According to five Jewish activists who witnessed the attack, one of the four directors of the film depicting the destruction of a village on the West Bank, Hamdan Baral was attacked surrounded by a group of about 15 armed people from Suzia in the Masafar Yatta region south of Hebron. Joseph said of the workers at Jewish non-violence centres, “they began to throw stones at the Palestinians and destroyed tanks near Hamdan’s home.” Witnesses say a group of soldiers, along with others in military uniforms, arrived at the location and chased Hamdan into his house and handed over to the army. Lawyer Lee Tisamel said three Palestinians, including filmmaker Hamdan Baral, had been arrested in Susiah village. She insisted she could not contact police, but told her that police were being held in a military facility for medical treatment. Another co-director, Basel Adora, saw the detention and said that more than 20 settlers attacked the community, some wearing Israeli uniforms, others wearing rifles and some wearing masks. The settlers were constantly throwing stones, but the soldiers pointed their weapons at the Palestinians.

“We’ve come back from Oscar and have been attacked every day ever since,” Adra told the Associated Press. “It’s like revenge on us to make a film. It sounds like punishment.” The Israeli military allegedly arrested Israeli citizens involved in a “violent conflict” between Israel and the Palestinians, as well as three Palestinians suspected of throwing stones at military personnel.

However, the AP spoke to an eyewitness who denied this. According to the Army, he took Israeli citizens out of the area for medical care and handed them over to Israeli police for questioning. According to Adra, they arrived in the immigrant community on Monday night shortly after locals broke their fast in the holy month of Ramadan. The soldiers fired bullets into the air. When the resident insisted that Adora attacked the village regularly and reached the Ball house with the army. According to Adora, Baral’s wife cried out, “I’m almost dying.” She heard her husband scream.
