Pak vs NZ; Saeed Ajmal Angry on Pakistan Team Selection Committee: Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has questioned the decision to exclude Babar Azam and captain Mohammad Rizwan for the upcoming series against New Zealand (Babar Azam and Rizwan Dropped out from Pak Team vs NZ Series). The selectors have made several changes in the White-Ball team in view of the team’s poor performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The selection committee removed Shaheen Shah Afridi from the ODI team, while Salman Aga has been given the captaincy of the T20 team. However, many people have objected to Babur and Rizwan being excluded from the T20 team. Both have added 3,300 runs as an opening pair in T20, but their strike rate has been less than 130.
Saeed Ajmal raised this big question
“The way he was excluded is wrong. It is not that only those players who did not have a good performance. The selectors should have talked to Babur so that he can return further firmly.” He further said, “If the selectors feel that Babur and Rizwan are no longer fit for T20, then they should clearly explain it. But they are currently involved in the ODI team. If they perform well in ODIs against New Zealand, will they be brought back to the T20 team again?”
Pakistan’s recent T20 performance has been weak, and that is why the selectors have made changes in the team. But Ajmal defended Babur and Rizwan and described him as a match winning player. “Babur and Rizwan are the best batsmen. They are scoring runs, but there is a lack of aggression in their batting. If you have already proved that you are a player to win, then there is no need for aggression,” Ajmal said. Pakistan team will play five T20 and three ODIs against New Zealand.
