Pakistan's Sharif government in crisis, Bilawal Bhutto threatened, what will happen now

Bilawal Bhutto Threatens Shehbaj Sharif: Bilawal can also drop the Shahbaz government of Pakistan.

Islamabad:

Bilawal Bhutto Threatens Shehbaj Sharif: The Indus River Canal Project has become the ‘sore throat’ of the federal government of Pakistan. The ruling coalition partner Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has threatened that if this project is not postponed, it will be out of the government. Addressing a huge public meeting at Hatri bypass ground late Friday night in Hyderabad, PPP President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari gave this warning to the Shahbaz government.

Bilawal said that if the federal government does not withdraw the controversial project even after accepting the objections of PPP, then his party will not be able to walk further. The PPP chief said that he (the federal government) is neither listening to his coalition partner nor withdrawing the decision to build new canals.

Why Bilawal against Shahbaz

Bilawal said, ‘I felt that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will stay away from this project after seeing such a response because he knows that without the support of PPP, he can neither run a assembly session nor pass the budget. However, it seems that he is not ready to shut down the project. If this is the case, we are also not ready to give up. “Taking a dig at the coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he claimed that his projects are constantly harming the agricultural sector. Bilawal Bhutto said,” Every initiative supported party-backed is anti-farmer. “

What is Indus river canal project

The Pakistani government has planned to construct six canals at a cost of $ 3.3 billion under the Green Pakistan Initiative, irrigating the alleged barren land in South Punjab. However, Sindh province has strongly opposed this decision. The Sindh government fears that the construction of these canals will reduce its share of water from the Indus river. There are widespread protests in Sindh against this project. Members of social workers, political parties, civil organizations, business associations and literary institutions have come out on the streets to protest against this decision of the government. The protesters have demanded from the government that ‘let the water flow’ and the project should be canceled immediately. He called it a violation of Sindh’s rights and an anti-people policy.
