Prime Minister Narendra Modi cried the death of the prestigious Bollywood actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, who died on Friday morning at the age of 87. Veteran actors were sick for a while and died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital around 3.30 in the morning due to age -related problems. Sharing an old photo with the actor on X, Prime Minister Modi declared in an article: “I am very sad about the disappearance of the actor and veteran filmmaker Mr. Manoj Kumar Ji. He was a symbol of Indian cinema, which was particularly known for his patriotism, which was also reflected in his films. Manoj Ji prepared the spirit of National Pride and will continue to inspire his families.
The veteran actor and filmmaker of Indian cinema Manoj Kumar died on April 4, 2025 at the age of 87. He breathed his last at 4:03 a.m. at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. According to the medical report, the cause of his death has been identified as a cardiogenic shock due to an acute myocardial infarction, a serious heart attack. The reports also confirmed that Kumar had trouble with the cirrhosis of the liver decomposed for a few months, which contributed to the decline in his health. He was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2025 after his condition deteriorated.
Born July 24, 1937 in Amritsar, Punjab, Harikrishna Goswami made a distinct identity in Hindi cinema. His prestigious roles in films like Shaheed, Upkar and Rank of Basanti were deeply associated with the feelings of patriotism of the Indian public. Throughout his career, Kumar was known for his game and his management in films focused on the spirit of national pride and unity. Kumar’s contribution to the Indian cinema has given him several prestigious prizes, including a national film Award and seven prizes Filmfare in various categories. In honor of his immense contribution to Indian art, the government of India honored him with Padma Shri in 1992. His heritage was further reinforced when he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Prize in 2015, the highest distinction in Indian cinema.
The news of its disappearance has created panic in the film industry, many people have expressed their sorrow and honored its inheritance. The filmmaker Ashok Pandit also expressed his sorrow about the death of the legendary actor. Speaking to Ani, he said: “You are all sad to say that the winner of the Dadasaheb Phalke prize, our inspiration, the veteran of the Indian cinema industry, Mr. Manoj Kumar Ji is no longer with us. He breathed his last at the Kokilaben hospital in Andheri after missing a lot.” He also said: “We met him all from time to time. He was always alive, happy and all the industry will remember him. Great soul like him, a great creator, will never be in our industry. Goodbye Manoj Ji, goodbye.”
