PM Modi wishes Bangladesh on Independence Day, repeated this promise of India by writing letters

Amidst the poor relations between Delhi and Dhaka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh and wished him a happy Independence Day. At the same time, India’s commitment to further the partnership between the two countries.

The Prime Minister wrote, “His Majesty, I wish you and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of National Day of Bangladesh.” The PM wrote, “This day stands as a proof of our shared history and sacrifices, which has laid the foundation of our bilateral partnership. The spirit of Bangladesh’s liberation struggle remains a guide for our relationship, which is flourishing in many areas, which has given concrete benefits to our people.”

The Prime Minister said, “We are committed to pursue this partnership based on our common aspirations for peace, stability and prosperity and to carry forward this partnership based on mutual sensitivity to each other’s interests and concerns. Excellence, please accept my highest idea assurance.”

Significantly, the Awami League government led by India’s long ally Sheikh Hasina has been dropped after a major movement. After this, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee to India and relations between the two countries have become tense. The interim government formed after the change of power is led by Nobel Prize winner and economist Muhammad Yunus.

India shared their concerns with Bangladesh amid reports of attacks on minorities. At the same time, Dhaka has said that the attacks are not communal but inspired by politics. India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has said that the center is connected with the interim government at different levels and will continue to raise such issues.
