She kept screaming, beggar that she left me… but where were those poor people to stay. The woman could not tolerate so much pain and fainted.
And this was not just a story. The commission member Vrinda Grover narrated the tragedy of another woman. The woman was kept closed in the Russian Detention Facility. He pleaded with the soldiers and said – ‘I am your mother’s age, leave me.’ But those soldiers did not listen to him. On the contrary, he made fun of him and said – ‘You don’t compare yourself with my mother. You are not even a human being. You have no right to live. Then he tortured him so much that his screams started resonating back after hitting the walls of that detention facility.
Listen to the story of a 26 -year -old Ukrainian soldier. He was caught after surrendering in May 2022. He was kept in a detention facility for more than 2 years. There he had to face torture every day. The soldiers used to beat him for hours… with an iron rod, from belt, shoes. Then he used to get nude and immerse it in cold water, so that he chilly tortured. But this was just the beginning. One day the soldiers locked him in a room and shocked him with electric wires. Her skin started burning, she started screaming… but she kept laughing. Then he took a rubber stick and raped her. He started bleeding so much that he was not conscious. When she regained consciousness, she was unable to walk, nor could she stand. He later told – ‘I was so painful that she could not even breathe. I could not understand how a person can do this. But where was the heart of soldiers going to sweat. On the contrary, he was punished. He was put in a dark closet for 8 months. There was no food properly, nor water. She busy tortured alone with her wounds.
Used to get drunk …
And this was not just about one or two women. Many times soldiers used to come into intoxicated. They used to consider women as rubber dolls and tore their clothes. Even old women were not spared. In a case, a soldier said while torturing a 50 -year -old woman – ‘A witch like you should burn alive.’ Then he burnt it with electric wires, so much that smoke started to rise from his skin. Torturing their mothers and sisters in front of children, as if a game had become for them. They used to threaten – ‘If you screamed, you will kill your child.’ Think, a mother is suffering in front of her child… and they are laughing. Many times, soldiers used to enter the detention facility at night… and women who were sleeping, used to torture them. Used to beat him with a belt, drag his hair. A woman said that the soldiers hit her so much that her spine was broken. She still cannot run today. And the soldiers said to him – ‘Now you will suffer like this throughout your life.’ Hearing all this, it seems that these soldiers were not humans, but were hero. These were no random actions… It was a thought-up system. All this happened at the behest of Russian FSB. Electric shock, power, rape, assault… It was all daily work for them. And the saddest thing? These soldiers did not get any punishment. They are still roaming free today, while the lives of these victims have been destroyed forever.

Rape and torture have been used earlier in war. But it happened at a different level in Ukraine.
