Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently introduced two special phone number sets for financial institutions. Which will be used for transactions and marketing calls to customers. In fact, this new government initiative aims to protect mobile users against financial fraud masquerading as banking communications. As per the latest instructions from the RBI, banks are now allowed to use only phone numbers starting with 16.00 and are used only for transaction related calls. In simple language, if you have a call transaction or any other financial query, the upcoming number will start with 1600.

Additionally, RBI has reserved numbers starting with 140 exclusively for marketing calls and SMS notifications to customers. At the same time, people providing services like loan, credit card or insurance will come from the number starting with 140. This step helps users to avoid scammers.
