RCB vs DC: “He is in me …” Jitesh Sharma gave credit for change in his game but not Virat Kohli
Jitesh sharma on dinesh karthik: Jitesh Sharma gave credit for the change in himself as a T20 batsman, Dinesh Karthik, the mentor of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who believes that this wicketkeeper can become the best player to shoot around the ground. Jitesh did not perform anything special for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in which he scored a minor average of 17 in 14 matches and just 187 runs with a low strike-rate of 131.
But in RCB, this 31-year-old has already scored 85 runs in four matches, while his strike-rate has reached 185 which is a sign of his confidence. On the eve of the match against Delhi Capitals, Jitesh said, “The journey so far has been fantastic because I have worked hard to him on the sidelines of the session. I think whatever shots I am playing right now are the same as he used to play. He is trying to produce a new player in me.”
Jitesh said that former RCB wicketkeeper batsman Karthik has great confidence in his batting ability. He said, “He is confident that I can play around the circle, I can put any shot anywhere in 360 degrees. I am enjoying a new role. When I am playing those shots I am very happy because I have never tried those shots before and I have full support. The process is still going on.”
Karthik first explained to Jitesh that there is a bad session for every cricketer in which there is nothing to be disappointed. He said, “I think last year’s performance was due to my mental state. I was thinking about the future. But when I met Dinesh Bhai, he told me that there is no rocket science.”
This player from Maharashtra told that Karthik found out some flaws of his batting and started work on him. He said, “He saw how I try to dominate. I think he came to know that there are some shots that I do not play and they started working on it.”
