Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday that the arrival of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April reflects the strength of the Indian economy and the effectiveness of the cooperative federalism. According to the government data, the total GST collection increased by 12.6 percent on a annual basis in April to reach the highest level of about Rs 2.37 lakh crore. Giving information about the data in his post, he wrote that, “The gross GST collection for April 2025 was ₹ 2.36 lakh crore, which shows an increase of 12.6% compared to the gross collection of ₹ 2.10 lakh crore of April 2024. The net GST collection for April 2025 reaches ₹ 2.09 lakh crore, which reaches ₹ 1.92 lakhs of April 2024 to ₹ 1.92 million.
