Renukaswamy murder case: actor Darshan angry under bail, Karnataka HC reprimanded

On Thursday, the Supreme Court reprimanded the High Court of Karnataka for giving a deposit to the actor of Kannada Darshan Thugudipa in the murder case of Renukavami. The Supreme Court said that the High Court had abused its judiciary.Earlier on July 17, the Supreme Court interviewed actor Darshan on the surety given by the High Court. Meanwhile, it was said that it seems that the high court did not correctly use its conscience. Currently, the Supreme Court has reserved its decision on the cancellation of the actor’s deposit.

 

Darshan was released on bond by the High Court on December 13, 2024 in the murder case of Renukavamy, after which he was released from prison. Against this, the government of Karnataka challenged the decision of the High Court before the Supreme Court in March.

A bench led by judge Br Gavai firmly criticized the High Court and wondered if the judicial discretion was used in a judicial manner. The court asked: “We are sad to say it, but does the high court give the same kind of order in all bonding petitions?”We have problems with the attitude of the high court. Look at the way it was done. Is it an understanding of the high court judge? If the session had been a judge, we could have understood. But how can a high court judge make such an error? “”

Describing him as “the perverted use of Vivek”, the Supreme Court said that it was investigating the question of whether the high court had “used its prudent conscience before giving a deposit in such a serious case”. The bench said: “We will not repeat the error of the High Court. We are a little serious because it is a case of murder and conspiracy.”

The court heard a request filed by the state of Karnataka, which challenged the prescription of the high court of the High Court to release actor Darshan and others in the murder of Renukaswamy of 33 years.

 

The bench also made clear comments at the hearing. Addressing the co-accusation council Pavitra Gowda, the bench said: “All this happened because of you. If you were not there, A2 would not be interested. If A2 is not interested, others are not interested. Therefore, you are the cause of this problem.”

The lawyer argued that he had received reprehensible messages and that there was no direct link with his appeal files with the accused involved in kidnapping or murder. But the court specified that he did not invest in the “subtle arguments”. The bench said: “We must see whether the accusation case increases or not.”

The court also asked how the high court rejected the eye declarations of Kiran and Puneet working as guards. The bench asked: “Why does the high court say that they are not reliable witnesses?” “Our last question: how did the high court dealt with the two statements using its conscience?”

The main lawyer Siddharth Luthra, appearing for the state, said that data recordings, location pins, clothing and DNA of vehicles and other declarations of materials support. He said, “All these things were confirmed.”

The bench has also questioned the nature of the evidence obtained from an accused. The court asked: “You had recovered a mobile phone from accused number 10. Why would someone take photos of the attack?”

 

According to the police investigation, the 33 -year -old deceased Renukaswamy was a fan of actor Darshan. In January 2024, the actress of Kannada Pavitra Gowda celebrated her tenth wedding anniversary with Darshan. It made their relationship in controversies because Darshan was already married.

Renukaswamy was very angry with this news. He constantly sent a message to Pavitra and asked him to stay far from philosophy. Initially, Pavitra ignored her messages, but later Renukaswamy began sending reprehensible messages and threatening.

Subsequently, Pavitra encouraged Darshan to kill Renukaswamy. He also asked him to punish him. With the help of his colleagues, Darshan had renukaswamy removed. They all took him to a warehouse, where he was tortured before his murder.According to the police, Darshan and his partners in the warehouse defeated Renukaswamy, killing him. After the murder, the clothes of Darshan’s companions were stained with blood. He went to a nearby reliance store, bought new clothes and replaced clothes from there.
