Rohit Sharma has scored 4301 runs in 67 Tests played for India at an average of 40.57. During this time, 12 centuries and 18 half -centuries have come from his bat. Rohit also has a double century in the name Test. Under Rohit’s leadership, India suffered a defeat in a three-match Test series against New Zealand at home first at home, while India lost 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after that. During this, Rohit Sharma was on the target of critics for his captaincy and his poor batting.

India won the ICC Champions Trophy led by Rohit Sharma in February and after that it was believed that Rohit could become captain in the Test. But on Wednesday, the Indian Express claimed in a report that national selectors have decided to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy of India’s Test team and go with a new captain for the tour of England starting next month.

Not only this, the Indian Cricket Board decided to support the decision of the selectors. The decision to remove Rohit is not a step inspired by excluding the old players, but it was considered based on Rohit’s performance and his form in red-ball cricket.

According to the report, “The idea process of the selectors is clear. They want a new leader for the tour of England and Rohit does not fit as a captain, especially looking at his red ball form. They want to prepare a young leader for the next Test cycle and the selection committee has informed the BCCI that Rohit will not lead the team.”

Recently, Gautam Gambhir, while speaking at an event, said about the career of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, “As long as they are performing, they should be part of the team. When you start and when you finish it is your personal decision. A coach, a selector, no BCCI can tell you when you should retire. If you perform, if you can stop, why you can stop?”

Rohit captained India in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. In addition to the previous series at the home ground against New Zealand and the Boarder-Gavaskar series against Australia, his performance as captain was effective. Under the captaincy of Rohit, India has played 24 Tests, in which Team India has managed to win 12 matches, while in 9 the team has lost and ended three matches.
