In an interview with media platform Hindi Rush, Divyanka narrated the incident and how the trusted CA, who managed the accounts of many actors on her sets, worked efficiently for two years initially. “I was working 20 to 24 hours a day and didn’t even have time to consult another CA or check his work. He was from another city and seemed trustworthy,” she said.
Divyanka reveals how CA convinced her to invest in fixed deposits (FDs) and manage her taxes. “He said to me: ‘Madam, you don’t spend much. What about your taxes?’ I signed four checks in my name and promised to give him the rest. But then he disappeared with Rs 12 lakh. I kept calling him, but there was no response.
The actress also explained the steps taken to recover the money. “I sent a friend of mine to his town to collect the check. Three out of four checks bounced and I lost Rs 9 lakh. I filed a check bounced complaint, but it was a process long and frustrating which involved continuous delays My father came to support me, but our lawyer also proved to be unreliable. He told me: “Ma’am, all your files have disappeared. Finally, I gave up the fight. .”
Divianka reflected on the financial hardship this caused her. “When the show ended, I realized the true value of money. I was making a living doing small commercials.”
