Shraddha Kapoor wore an Abaya-inspired corset gown by Torani for the Joy Awards

‘Abaya’ is a long, loose dress worn by Muslim women on various occasions, and we recently saw a version of it on Shraddha Kapoor while she attended the Joy Awards in Riyadh. The actor wore a modest custom creation from Torani. The black dress featured a sheer neckline and loose sleeves filled with intricate gold sequin embroidery. The real highlight of the show was the intricately hand-embroidered corset bodice, showcasing gold sequins and zari work that added a royal touch to Shraddha Kapoor’s ensemble.

Designed by celebrity fashion stylist Namrata Deepak, the addition of a half-abaya inspired cape elevated the look significantly. Featuring ornate gold embroidery along the borders and featuring a floor-length hem, the cape seamlessly integrates culture with high fashion.

As Shraddha Kapoor’s look no longer needed any bells and whistles, she kept her accessories minimal, opting for delicate gold earrings and classic high heels. With her hair pulled back into a sleek bun, her makeup featured soft nude tones, a dewy base, blushed cheeks and subtle winged eyeliner.

“To reinvent this finely embroidered look, consider pairing the bodice with fitted wide-leg pants or an unstructured midi skirt to inject a touch of modernity while letting the craftsmanship shine. Opt for bold accessories – sculptural earrings or an oversized cuff – to introduce a directional touch,” suggests Vogue Manglien Gangte, associate of fashion in India.

Kapoor’s latest international outing also made heads turn. Late last year, she was seen at the Red Sea Film Festival in an embellished multi-colored dress by Falguni & Shane Peacock. Scroll down to revisit this look.
