Tension on the Lebanon border after rocket attack on Northern Israel, Israel and Hizbullah are convicted of each other

Berut/Jerusalem:
Israel on Saturday carried out airstrikes on southern Lebanon. After this, tension on the border increased due to rocket fired in northern Israel. The government news agency (NNA) said that the attacks took place in villages near Tolin, Kefeer Melky, Mleeta and Vadi Al-Hujer Valley of Lebanon. According to the report, a residential building in Tolin was destroyed in the attack, in which one person was killed and three people were injured.
Earlier, the Israeli army had said that it had stopped the rocket fired from Lebanon towards the city of Metula in Northern Israel. According to Israeli’s emergency services, no casualties were reported in Israel in this attack.
Military units deployed in southern Lebanon
According to the news agency Shinhua, the Lebanon’s army reported that its soldiers later discovered and destroyed three rocket launchers in the Nabatih region north of the Litani River. The army also said, “Military units have been deployed in the southern Lebanon to maintain security and stability.
The incident took place despite the ceasefire between Israeli and Lebanese armed group Hizbullah. This ceasefire came into effect from November 27, 2023 and ended the enmity associated with the Gaza struggle. However, differences over the return of Israel from the disputed Lebanese region still remains, and Lebanese officials say the Israeli army has occupied five border posts even after the time limit of 18 February.
Vow to give a strong answer to the attack
The Israeli army issued a statement after an airstrikes, saying, “We attacked Hizbullah’s infrastructure, which works from civilian areas and it is an Iran -backed group.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Catz vow to give a “tough answer” to the attack and Catz stressed, “The Lebanese government is responsible for all the attacks arising from its land.”
In Lebanon, the United Nations Interim Force (UNIAFIL) called for restraint and warned that further action could reduce diplomatic benefits. The incident of rocket fired on Saturday was the first such incident from Lebanon since the beginning of December. Both Israel and Hizbullah have convicted each other for violation of the ceasefire, and the ceasefire remains technically, but remains tense due to sporadic clashes and unresolved border disputes.
