The government will launch Sahkar Taxi Service, Ola, Uber? Drivers will earn strong money

New Delhi:
If you also travel by cab or auto, now you are going to get a new and cheaper option. The central government has launched a co-operative taxi service called ‘Sahakar Taxi’, which aims to provide bikes, cab and auto service. The biggest advantage of this initiative will be that the drivers will earn more in it, because they will not have to share their profits with big companies like Ola-Uber. This service will be based on cooperative models instead of private companies, which will provide full benefit to drivers.
What is cooperation taxi and how will it work?
Home Minister and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah announced this new initiative in Parliament. He informed that this service will register two-wheel taxis, auto-rickshaws and four-wheelers across the country. It will get the support of the government, which will make it a trusted and transparent ride-sharing option.
When will the cooperative taxi service start?
The purpose of this service is to empower the drivers and provide affordable travel to the passengers. At present, the government did not say when this service will start, but Amit Shah said that it will be launched in the coming months.
Drivers will benefit the most
On big platforms like Ola-Uber, drivers have to pay a part of their rent to the company, which reduces their earnings. But drivers will get all the money in cooperative taxi.
Apart from this, the government will also start a cooperative insurance company, which will provide insurance services to drivers and common people. Amit Shah says that this insurance company will compete with private companies in the coming time and will become the biggest insurance company.
Government taxi service already existing in West Bengal and Kerala
There is already a government taxi service in West Bengal under the name “Passenger Saathi”, which has now moved beyond Kolkata to Siliguri, Asansol and Durgapur. This service provides facilities like affordable fares, local language support and 24×7 customer care.
The Kerala government started its taxi service in 2022 under the name ‘Kerala Riding’, but was discontinued due to low use. However, it is now being planned to resume it with revised fares and better software.
Will Sahakar Taxi be able to compete with Ola-Uber?
Private companies like Ola-Uber are currently dominated by India’s taxi market, but passengers and drivers will have a new option with the arrival of cooperative taxi. If the government implements it well, then it will not only be beneficial for the drivers, but passengers will also get a cheap and reliable option. Now it has to be seen how long the cooperative taxi is launched and how fast it can make its world in the market.
