Local people of Akhora Khattak confirmed from IANS that at least five people had died so far, while more than a dozen others were injured. There is a possibility of increasing the number of casualties as a large number of people were inside the mosque when the explosion occurred. According to Jio News, 10 to 15 people were deployed under the protection of Maulana Hamid -ul -Haq Haqqani. These people have also been injured in this bomb blast.

Inspector General of Police (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfikar Hameed confirmed, “So far at least five people have died, while more than 12 are seriously injured.” Hospital sources say that the number of casualties is expected to increase, as most of the injured in the hospital are in critical condition.

Darul Uloom Haqqani Madrasa is one of the most radical madrasas in Pakistan. Thousands of students study in this madrasa. It is known for supporting Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Darul Uloom Hakkania is also known as the early education site of several TTPs and Afghan Taliban commanders. Maulana Samee-ul Haq, the founder of JUI-S, was a very vocal person supporting Taliban. Haq was murdered by unknown assailants at his residence in Rawalpindi in November 2018.
