This bride’s classic red vision came alive with a Sabyasachi lehenga for her California wedding

For many brides, their wedding day is a unique opportunity to honor their heritage, often through fashion. This was the case for the Indian-American bride, Dr. Jasmine Singh, a psychiatrist based in California.

“Even when I was a child, I knew – without a doubt – that it doesn’t matter who I got married, or when I was getting married, I would have a Sikh wedding ceremony, and I would wear a traditional red Indian Lehenga with gold embroidery,” she explains. “My mother has countless photos of me like a little girl dressed in a tiny red Lehenga, adorned with a golden mathapatti and haathphool, and proudly wearing a daring red lip.”

When the time came for Jasmine to organize her own wedding day, seeks her marriage to Dr Sandeep Mann, she immediately knew that she wanted to work with Indian designers, especially on a Red Lehenga – this recognizable Indian wedding outfit. “It was important that my wedding outfit was made by the hands and the spirits which understood the symbolism anchored in each reason and point,” she explains. “I wanted to wear something that was not only beautiful, but significant; Something that connected me to my culture and my inheritance. ”

Familizing his work from decades earlier, Jasmine immediately thought of turning to the famous Indian designer Sabyasachi (who defeated Priyanka Chopra memorable for her wedding celebrations) for her Lehenga and her jewelry. “I heard about him for the first time when I was a student at UC San Diego,” she explains. “I remember being captivated by the news that an Indian designer had shown Milan Fashion Week. Since then, I followed his career, watching him dress countless brides – including many most famous actresses in India. ”
