Trump spoke to Apple CEO Tim Cook- not India, make iPhone in America

Apple India Production: US President Donald Trump’s notes have changed these days about India. Trump has now advised Apple’s CEO Tim Cook not to set up a factory in India. On Thursday, Trump said that he has asked Apple’s CEO Tim Cook to focus on making it in America instead of taking the production of iPhone to India. The last five years have emerged as a big hub of India iPhone production. In the last one year, Apple had made 60 % more phones in India.

In fact, during a business program in Doha, the US President said that he had a “problem” from Tim Cook. He said “I told him, my friend, I am taking care of you. You are bringing $ 500 billion, but now I am listening that you are building in the whole of India. I do not want you to build in India. You can build in India, if you want to take care of India, because India is one of the world’s highest tariffs (fees) countries, and something is very difficult to sell here.”

Trump also claimed that New Delhi has proposed an agreement to Washington DC and said that it will not impose any fee on American goods. However, India has not made any such announcement yet. He said, “He (India) has given us a deal in which they basically will not take any fee from us.

The US President said that Apple, whose iPhones and Macbooks are very popular all over the world, are now going to expand their production in America.

According to the AFP report earlier this month, Tim Cook said that he hoped that “most of the iPhones sold in the US will be made in India”.

At present, there are three plants of Apple in India – 2 in Tamil Nadu and one in Karnataka. One of them is operating Foxconn, while two other Tata are being run by the group. Apple’s two more plants are in the scheme.

In the last financial year ended in March, Apple assembled iphones worth $ 22 billion in India, which is 60 percent more than the previous year.
