Malalan rangarajan statement on Virat Kohli: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spin bowling coach Mallan Rangarajan said at a better strike rate against spinners in Virat Kohli’s Indian Premier League (IPL) that this Indian superstar does not need to spend additional hours to enhance his game against spin. In the first time in the IPL, questions have been raised on playing against Kohli’s spinners in the middle overs, but in the last year, Malolan said that it is not appropriate to isolate Kohli.
On the eve of the match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, Malolan said, “In the last session, there were not only Virat who were not batting at the desired strike rate. Rather it was the whole team. So I think I think it happened to the whole team. And that’s it. It is the first part.” He said, “The second part is personally about Virat Kohli. He does not need to do additional practice against left-handed spin and leg spin. He has batted for 20-25 years.”
Malolan said, “He is a talented player. He just has to decide what he wants to do and how to deal with a particular bowler.” He said, “He has been trying to improve continuously even after playing so long. Which is incredible for me.”
Kohli was the highest run -scorer scoring 741 runs in IPL 2024 with his strike rate against fast bowling and spin, 168.79 and 137.9 respectively. Half of the current session has been played with league matches and their strike rate against fast bowling and spin is 147.76 and 140.57. If his team moves forward in the tournament, then Kohli can also come to the top in the list of run -makers. Malolan said, “The way he comes in every training session, every match. I do not think that he has done something special physically (on playing his spin).”
